Simple fillings include small cavities on teeth involving only one or two surfaces which are superficial and not much tooth structure damage. These treatments make up what is called Restorative or Conservative Dentistry.
This material is made up of mixture of metals, used for restoring decayed teeth. They are strong, long lasting, not expensive and not affected much by moisture contamination. They are very useful in large/wide cavities and are not associated with much tooth sensitivity after fillings.
Also known as tooth-coloured fillings, they have now replaced metallic fillings as they meet aesthetic demands of patients better. With availability of multiple shades, these fillings give as natural an appearance as possible. They are also strong and durable, but very sensitive to moisture during filling process.

Sometimes, when much of the tooth structure is lost /damaged, simple small fillings are not
possible. For such big cavities, other treatment options exist such as inlays and onlays.
Inlays fit into the tooth and are available in tooth-coloured options. Onlays, on the other hand,
fit inside tooth cavity and extend onto chewing surface to give better strength to tooth and
seal with tooth properly.
