A subfield of prosthodontics, that deals with repair and rehabilitation of parts of face that have been defective since birth or damaged due to injury or resected during surgical procedures. This field involves co-ordination with many specialities as its is a plastic procedure like with ENT, plastic surgeons, oral surgeons, radiation oncologists, speech therapists and many more.
These prostheses not only help to improve function, aesthetics but also work on improving quality of life. They can categorized as – intraoral generally made of acrylic and extraoral routinely made from silicone.
